It's even easier to transport, and quicker and easier to set up at a tailgate party, campsite or any other location where fun, food and friends get together. Like the original RoadTrip Grill, the LXE features authentic open flame grilling, two powerful burners that are fully adjustable, electronic ignition and uncommon cooking versatility thanks to mix-and-match cooking surface options. However, a cleverly designed new stand distinguishes the LXE model from its predecessor. The X-shaped chassis is wheeled for easy maneuvering in both the upright and collapsed-for-transport positions. It sets up quickly and provides excellent stability for cooking, thanks to the simplicity of the scissor-like leg and frame design. Two side tables integrated into the unit slide out for grilling and cooking duties, then retract under the unit in a moment's motion for travel and storage. Because the grill is affixed to the stand and the lid features a locking mechanism, the unit is secure and steady while towing it to and from a vehicle using a convenient pull handle. The Coleman Roadtrip Grill LXE is designed to be used completely assembled. If table top use is desired - simply hand remove the 4 plastic cap screws and start cooking! The Roadtrip Grill LXE is easy to assemble - Push on wheels and insert plastic handle and it is ready to use! New tool holders and stainless steel carry handles added for convenience. The LXE fits into most auto trunks/SUV's.

My husband and best friend bought this for me for my b-day as I was looking for a portable grill for our USC Trojan football tailgates. We had been using various friends' portable grills but I was kind of tired of having to 1) buy charcoal for the grills & clean up said charcoal residue and 2) leaning down to the floor to cook. I loved that the Coleman Road Trip Grill LXE allowed us to cook at standing level. For its inaugural use, we took it the 2009 Rose Bowl game and it was a BIG hit. Cooked food beautifully and looked beautiful while doing it (my fave color is red, I love it for that alone). I wish I had the foresight to line the grill with foil as the other reviewers have suggested, but even though I didn't, the cleanup actually wasn't too bad. After cleaning the next day, the grill still looks like it was unused.
The set-up was easy and the wheels and handle make it extremely easy to move around. The only complaint, and I'm not even sure this is unique to this grill really, so it may be unfair, but my car stunk like greasy oil for WEEKS (actually, a few months even) afterwards because I had to store the grill in the trunk while we were at the game. Not sure if having the grill cover/case would have helped our not to seal in that smell, but man, I was so sad because the greasy smell completely over-powered the new car smell of my brand new SUV. Oh well, small sacrifice to pay, I suppose, for a great grill that I know we will use often for tailgates in the years to come.

After doing a lot of research on small grills, I decided on this rather than the Weber Q. You have to pay 30% more for a comparable Weber Q and there are multiple posts on that grill about breakage during shipment or regulator issues.
The Coleman LXE was very simple to set up and uses the common propane tanks (unlike the Weber Q). It looks great and is very functional. Read the very useful post by "MiloPickle" - this grill gets very hot easily. You only need to go between low or medium (there is a click halfway) to grill, otherwise you may burn your food. At this level, you can close the lid no problem.
Others have reported that the lid doesn't close well - the lock doesn't just drop right into the hole, you have to push it inward just slight, but it stays nicely in the locked position when wheeling it around.
No complaints, I would recommend this grill if you want a small grill that doesn't take up a lot of space, and is portable. Small is relative -I grilled 6 burgers and 5 brats at the same time, and could have fit more brats.

I bought this planning to use both as my main home grill and bring it to events. It's really easy to pack and go. As others have said it gets very hot and has a good steady flame. However, I find that with the round burners, it doesn't cook evenly. Therefore, food placement and careful monitoring are required to get food done evenly.

This is an excellent grill. We took it camping and it was amazing. The food tastes like it was grilled on a larger grill. But it is so much more convenient. Thanks for making it. Dottie Sausen

I bought this grill for my husband for father's day. He loves it, the whole family enjoys it! Having all the different ways to use it is amazing! We no longer have to take our camp stove and old small BBQ with us camping, this is it all in one! It came with the two grill pieces then we bought two stove grates, the large 1 piece griddle, and the carrying bag. I am really glad we listened to other reviews about buying the bag, it makes it so much easier! I highly recommend the larger griddle, it cooks evenly and such a snap to clean up! We love how the grill lights so easily with no matches required, and the fact that it runs on propane canisters makes it very portable. We have yet to use a whole little can of propane and we've used it at least 6 times! We heeded other reviews that talk about cooking on lower heats with this grill and haven't had any issues, everything tastes great and is cooked to perfection!
Some of the things we found that are a downfall with this product are that in order to fit into the bag you have to take the handle/leg off, easy to get on and off BUT it can be awkward trying to do it with one person. I wish the shelves where a little thicker and stronger plastic as well, they seem a little flimsy IMO. Also the grill grates portion seem hard to clean, everything gets burned onto them, I am thinking I will have to use oven cleaner on them to get it off, using a brush works to some degree. I need to try the Pam for Grilling, maybe that would help solve this problem (once I can get them clean enough). I realize it is a grill and it will likely have some stuck on black stuff but going from the shiny new black to burnt on stuff that I couldn't soak off even overnight was disappointing.;(
Overall we LOVE IT!
